Setting the record straight

Having worked in the media intelligence industry for over 15 years, I have quite literally had thousands of conversations with communications professionals across all sectors in Australia.

In recent times however, our conversations have included a lot of misconceptions about what we do and how we do it – as our competitors love to take a stab at our perceived weaknesses, rather than focus on their strengths.

We’re proud of the work we do to help power clients, our strong reputation, and the innovation we’re continuing to deliver – so I’d like to share a few facts about our platform and services to help set the record straight on why we’re still the market leader for media intelligence and insights across Asia Pacific.

Fact #1 – Our technology is cutting-edge, and continuously evolving!

With our Mediaportal platform, we have powerful alerts and rich notifications to keep you informed anywhere, anytime and from any device. We’ve updated our search technology and delivered more than 70 updates to Mediaportal within the last 3 months (and that won’t be slowing down!).

We’ve also formed partnerships with global leaders such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) to ensure we’re always at the forefront of development and can continue to provide best in class service to our valued clients. In an ever-shifting technology and media world, we’re committed to ensuring our platform reflects the current market and can always keep up with client needs.

Fact #2 – We provide real-time delivery of online and social media content

Our online news monitoring averages between 4-6 mins from publication to delivery to clients, our Paywall sites average between 2-4 mins, and we capture online sources in under 2 minutes. This average is across 65,000+ sources – and growing!

But, we know this isn’t always perfect. There are a range of reasons that content may come through slowly and the most common reason is a key-term or scoping issue. That’s why we’ve placed a strong emphasis on the importance of a unique and attentive account management structure – proactively updating all issues as soon as a problem is identified.

Fact #3 – We don’t lock you in on roll-over contracts

Rollover contracts have been the norm in our industry for over 20 years – not just in Australia, but globally. This is predominantly due to the transient nature of communications and public relations people, and many industries still operate solely on this basis.

Over the last 24 months, we’ve has been gradually evolving our contracts to shift towards a fixed term setup with flexible 30-day terms at the end of the agreement. If you’re unsure of your setup or are looking for a more flexible contract, simply contact your Client Solutions Director and they will be able to work with you to find a solution that best suit your business’ needs.

Fact #4 – We use voice-to-text and closed captions in our broadcast monitoring process

Automation is playing an increasingly important role in our broadcast monitoring, with voice-to-text and closed captions used to speed up the process so we can ensure we’re meeting the needs of our busy clients. Quality and relevance have always been the most important factors of our service, so we capture and summarise coverage for you to ensure you aren’t wasting valuable time.

Our technology searches across all media types and platforms to find relevant matches against your requirements, and our people support this with proactive content alerting. Instead of being alerted to ALL mentions of your brand or listening and watching every piece of content to judge relevance – you will get a precise snapshot of relevant coverage for your organisation.

Stay tuned as we also look to roll out improvements to our live broadcast alerting next month, ensuring you’re notified of immediate mentions when it matters most.

Fact #5 – Our scope is unmatched

We’re always at the ready to deliver data whether it be across print, broadcast, online or social. Dedicated to delivering media intelligence to you 24/7, 365 days a year, we have the widest scope of any media intelligence provider in market.

Right across Asia Pacific, we capture content from more than 2,400 broadcast programs, 62,000 online news sites and deliver more than 8 million social media posts to our clients every day. The bottom line is, we’ve got you covered all day, every day.
