Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

John Croll has been active in the media industry since 1982 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Isentia (then Media Monitors) in 1999. Prior to his appointment, John held sales and operational roles with Croll Communications and Media Monitors. John is a former Executive Vice President of FIBEP, the International Federation of Press Clipping Bureaus. John is a Life Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia, a Fellow of the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communications (AMEC) and a member of the Institute of Company Directors.

In addition to his Industry appointments, he is Chairman of Disability Sports Australia.

Over the past 25 years Mr James Orlando has held senior finance positions driving growth and shareholder value in the United States, Asia and Australia.

Most recently he was Chief Financial Officer of Veda Group Ltd (VED.ASX) leading the company through its successful $1.05 billion IPO in December 2013. Jim subsequently managed the highly successful takeover offer of Veda by a US purchaser for $2.6 billion in February 2016.

Before joining Veda, Jim was the CFO of AAPT where he focused on improving the company's earning, as well as divesting its non-core businesses. He also served as the CFO of PowerTel Ltd, an ASX-listed telecommunications service provider which was sold to Telecom New Zealand in 2007. Jim also held various international treasury positions at AT&T and Lucent Technologies in the US and Hong Kong including running Lucent's international project and export finance organisation.

Jim holds the position of Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Catapult Group International Ltd. (CAT.ASX).

Jim holds a BS degree from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. He also served on the Advisory Board of the US Export-Import Bank.

As Chief Executive - Media Intelligence, Sean is responsible for overseeing the delivery of media intelligence services to 5,000 clients across APAC. With 15 years’ experience in the media intelligence industry, Sean has extensive client knowledge across the corporate, government and public relations sectors. He has previously held roles as the Country Manager for New Zealand, Sales Director at Asia Media Monitors in South East Asia and State Manager in New South Wales. Prior to working in the media intelligence industry Sean worked for the Australian Sports Commission and Sydney Olympic Games Organising Committee (SOCOG). Sean is the current Vice President and Board Member for FIBEP (global association for media intelligence) and has recently completed Executive Education in International Business Management with Stanford University.

David has over 28 years of experience in the media sector having worked at agencies including McCann-Erickson, Bozell and Saatchi & Saatchi. He was Non-Executive Vice-Chairman of QJY Media Group, a HK public listed company, as well as a Director of CBSO China, the outdoor division of CBS Viacom Group. Prior to that he was the Asia Pacific CEO of Aegis Media Group, where he built the Aegis Media network from one office to 14 offices in the region and was appointed a member of the Aegis Global Executive Board in 2001. David was subsequently responsible for building and managing the Engine group network in Asia before coming to Isentia to lead its growth across Asia.

Khali directs our Insights service across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. With over 12 years’ experience in communications research, Khali has a deep understanding of our clients and the media intelligence industry. She is passionate about Insights, and has presented at a range of conferences, providing strategic advice on demonstrating success, reputation management and the impact of integration. Khali holds a Bachelor of Communications from Charles Sturt University, has previously worked as an academic researcher for Monash University and also as a researcher for Indonesia’s national newspaper, Kompas. She is a member of the AMEC Asia Pacific Chapter Leadership team.

With over 20 years in senior management roles, Andrea Walsh is an experienced technology and digital leader who has consistently delivered business outcomes. Andrea has worked in the UK and Asia Pacific region. Prior to starting with Isentia, Andrea held several positions at Aimia (Global Loyalty Marketing organisation) including VP of Technology and Digital for Asia Pacific. Skills include strategy development, delivery of leading edge digital/IT solutions, business intelligence and transformation.

Helen Thomson is a senior Human Resources professional with over 20 years experience in business redesign and culture change. She specialises in creating pragmatic, commercially driven solutions and has worked across diverse industries including education, hospitality, publishing and media. She joined Isentia as Executive Director, Human Resources in 2012 and is based is the Sydney head office. Prior to joining Isentia, Helen was Vice President Human Resources Asia Pacific for Reader's Digest where she had the opportunity to spend time living and working in Asia. She holds a Business degree from the University of Southern Queensland majoring in Human Resources.

Richard Spencer

Richard Spencer has been working in marketing and digital communications for 20 years, and as Chief Marketing Officer, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the marketing and communications functions of Isentia. His specialist social media agency, Two Social, was acquired by Isentia in 2013, and continued its growth and success under his leadership. Richard is a regular media commentator, sharing his expertise on social media strategy and execution. Prior to founding Two Social, Richard was Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Interactive with TMP Worldwide and lead numerous agencies. Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in Business and a postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (CIM).
